BARREL OF MONKEYS: "GENESIS" in Reverse

I consider myself a Democrat. Been called a Socialist. Definitely a bleeding heart liberal.

As a child from a traditional southern family, playing Barrel of Monkeys on the floor, church every Sunday, doing well in public school, learning a trade; in every sense privileged .........

Comfortable in middle age, an avid news reader, on learning the tragic story of a full grown chimpanzee destroying the face of a woman who offered a toy, only trying to help it's owner coax her surrogate child back into his cage......

Today being confrontational, ribald, offensive, restless, rebellious.......

How did I get here from there?

Why Elizabeth Edwards Left God Out of Her Last Goodbye

"You all know that I have been sustained throughout my life by three saving graces -- my family, my friends, and a faith in the power of resilience and hope,"
Edwards wrote.

Why Elizabeth Edwards Left God Out of Her Last Goodbye: "'I have, I think, somewhat of an odd version of God,' Edwards explained to an audience of women bloggers when asked how her beliefs inform her politics. 'I do not have an intervening God. I don't think I can pray to him -- or her -- to cure me of cancer.'

"You get the God you have, not the God you want."

'I appreciate other people's prayers for that [a cure for her cancer], but I believe that we are given a set of guidelines, and that we are obligated to live our lives with a view to those guidelines. And I don't believe that we should live our lives that way for some promise of eternal life, but because that's what's right. We should do those things because that's what's right.'"

Amazingly Thoughtful Woman

Saw far more humility on display by a remarkably strong and  influential woman  within her own right,  who was fortunate to have her saving graces (sure she could have counted more than three);  able to find the strength to continue doing "what's right", despite the lost of privacy/public humiliation thrusted upon her just being the wife of a politician.

A lesson, an example, capable of shaming those unable match her display of amazing grace under pressure right up to the end?

Nothing extraordinaire there.  Nothing uncommon about a woman battling cancer with a husband unfaithful.

Just the media's amplification of an intelligent woman   who's purpose in life was shaped by a worldly perspective having boundaries far exceeding those of your average American citizen.

She strike me as someone with the confidence to see herself as a flawed human being first;  prone to imperfect moment, with some yet even to occur;  someone quick to reflect and admit her guilt once aware; someone able to see beyond the action of those who failed her and find a way to forgive unconditionally if merited.

Of course she reacted; had some unflattering moment.  How could she  not.  And her husband was just another man who failed to resist temptation.   Nothing unusual there either.   And she kept that sense of reality about her as the media kept turning up the volume mainly on her reaction as more and more information became available.

 All of this to the Conservatives' delight  as newsworthy material appropriate for liberal broadcasting. Conservatives believing the media to be extremely liberal biased; be interesting to see a study on the periodical political parties turn to for news hot off the press;

"READING ALL ABOUT IT!

Bottom line:
She was thoroughly tested, leaving no doubt as to the strength and genuineness of her character.

As a gay man, I personally can tell you:
the number of men caught cheating on their wives would look like a tiny speck when compared to the tip  of an iceberg.  And that's just men seeking men!
It's my observation, those reaching financial security before leaving their wives for another man, tend to trend Libertarian, those who keep their wives and remain discreet, (again, referring only to those financially capable of supporting two households comfortably), are just about always Republicans.

It amazes me how clueless, how so much is taken for granted, by those wealthy believing "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" are unalienable right others are trying to deny them.

It's as if history comes in neat little chapters, each having clear beginnings and endings; the final chapter ending before we were even born. Like we are living in a new era where all previous transgressions have been forgiven and forgotten as we begin anew.

"One thing I like about the Digital age: having the dictionary at my fingertips, how easy it is to look up unfamiliar words as I go along reading." "At least....... until, I played my first game of SCRABBLE on the internet. Wow! I had no idea you could spell so many words with seven letters every time." "Now I feel pressured to catch up!"
