BARREL OF MONKEYS: "GENESIS" in Reverse

I consider myself a Democrat. Been called a Socialist. Definitely a bleeding heart liberal.

As a child from a traditional southern family, playing Barrel of Monkeys on the floor, church every Sunday, doing well in public school, learning a trade; in every sense privileged .........

Comfortable in middle age, an avid news reader, on learning the tragic story of a full grown chimpanzee destroying the face of a woman who offered a toy, only trying to help it's owner coax her surrogate child back into his cage......

Today being confrontational, ribald, offensive, restless, rebellious.......

How did I get here from there?

SPANK YOUR MONKEYS

The
 three wise monkeys
are a pictorial maxim.

Together they embody the proverbial principle to "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil". The three monkeys are Mizaru, covering his eyes, who sees no evil; Kikazaru, covering his ears, who hears no evil; and Iwazaru, covering his mouth, who speaks no evil.

Sometimes there is a fourth monkey depicted with the three others; the last one, Shizaru, symbolizes the principle of "do no evil". He (She)may be shown crossing their arms.

There are various meanings ascribed to the monkeys and the proverb including associations with being of good mind, speech and action.

In the western world the phrase is often used to refer to those who deal with impropriety by looking the other way, refusing to acknowledge it, or feigning ignorance.

Having developed an interest in politics. Having participated in many heated debates with friends, family, and co-workers.  Beginning to pick up a pattern to human behavior; and not liking what I'm seeing.

SPINNING THE MONKEYS

Learning you cannot be all three monkeys at the same time.  Impossible to see no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil without looking the other way, refusing to acknowledge it, or feigning ignorance. Impossible to do no evil without having done something wrong. Impossible to be moral without first having been the lesser of two immoral.

No one born aspires to be lazy, drug addict, bad parent, pervert, burden, loser, criminal, etc., etc., etc.,........an ABOMINATION.

If
"all men were created equal"
then
there's nothing all that exceptional, unique, grand
about the great men and women throughout history held up as role models, examples of someone moral;
just as
there should be nothing considered exceptional, uniquely evil
about
those considered immoral.

As
Everything has Everything to do with Everything!
coming to realization,
there is no such thing as someone evil or someone moral;
just by-products of circumstances.

Evil is not the act of laws having been broken, perpetrators of crimes assigned names, punishment a deterrent having been too late; nor even limited to crimes against humanity.

Morals not a measure based on living within the laws of a society, ability to conform;  nor a title gracefully claimed simply having committed no crimes; infinitely challenged.

The boundaries of Evil and Morals much more subtle, diffused, difficult to define; if even possible to separate at all.

"The central defect of evil is not the sin but the refusal to acknowledge it"

Believe my mother said it best,
"Good....
isn't  it suppose
to hurt?"

"One thing I like about the Digital age: having the dictionary at my fingertips, how easy it is to look up unfamiliar words as I go along reading." "At least....... until, I played my first game of SCRABBLE on the internet. Wow! I had no idea you could spell so many words with seven letters every time." "Now I feel pressured to catch up!"
