BARREL OF MONKEYS: "GENESIS" in Reverse

I consider myself a Democrat. Been called a Socialist. Definitely a bleeding heart liberal.

As a child from a traditional southern family, playing Barrel of Monkeys on the floor, church every Sunday, doing well in public school, learning a trade; in every sense privileged .........

Comfortable in middle age, an avid news reader, on learning the tragic story of a full grown chimpanzee destroying the face of a woman who offered a toy, only trying to help it's owner coax her surrogate child back into his cage......

Today being confrontational, ribald, offensive, restless, rebellious.......

How did I get here from there?

Paternal Rights and Abortion – ELLE

Paternal Rights and Abortion – ELLE: "This unusual, not to mention tragic, past is the blueprint to Greg’s personal philosophy, one that gave rise to a devotion to Libertarian politics and an “Ayn Randian” commitment to rugged individualism and independence, as well as a contradictory and profound desire for family. “Family.” Bruell says the word often, like it’s a mantra or an antidote for all the pain in his life. “I really wanted to have children. I felt this need to make up for all of the loss and suffering that happened in my family by having my own.” The current circumstances, he says, are causing a “civil war between two conflicting parts of my soul.”"

The closest I can relate to this argument is a statement I've made on several occasions and still stand by,

"I rather get A.I.D.S than get someone pregnant."

Surprises me the reaction it always receives......
at first,

"I'm responsible enough to know I'm not responsible enough to be a good father.  With A.I.D.S,  responsibility rests one hundred percent with me."

Nor am I particularly thrilled how quiet it gets after saying this in my defense......
at least until,

"Yeah!  You would make a lousy father!"

Interesting.....
 how quiet it gets again.

"(Fair enough!)"

Believe that puts us back where we started.

If people only knew,
just how many fathers were on the down low. Not talking gay men in the closet here. Talking men more like Pastor Ted, Bishop Eddie Long; men who never really see themselves as gay.  Men living, or almost living, their entire lives;  extramarital affairs known only to a select few.

When online cruising, they are easy to spot...

MUST BE DISCREET

Quite often, staying at very nice hotels;  mostly in town on business.
Just passing through; a lot of overnight layovers staying at hotels near Atlanta Hatfield Airport.

If this many gay, bi, whatever........
Just imagine how many are continuing making the right choice?

Over! And Over! And Over Again!

Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power.

"One thing I like about the Digital age: having the dictionary at my fingertips, how easy it is to look up unfamiliar words as I go along reading." "At least....... until, I played my first game of SCRABBLE on the internet. Wow! I had no idea you could spell so many words with seven letters every time." "Now I feel pressured to catch up!"
