BARREL OF MONKEYS: "GENESIS" in Reverse

I consider myself a Democrat. Been called a Socialist. Definitely a bleeding heart liberal.

As a child from a traditional southern family, playing Barrel of Monkeys on the floor, church every Sunday, doing well in public school, learning a trade; in every sense privileged .........

Comfortable in middle age, an avid news reader, on learning the tragic story of a full grown chimpanzee destroying the face of a woman who offered a toy, only trying to help it's owner coax her surrogate child back into his cage......

Today being confrontational, ribald, offensive, restless, rebellious.......

How did I get here from there?

Colbert storms Capitol Hill for migrant workers - CNN.com

"Colbert appeared before Congress the day after "The Colbert Report" showed video of him packing corn and picking beans on a farm as part of a challenge from a pro-immigrant-labor group.

"I'll admit I started my work day with preconceived notions of migrant labor," Colbert said. "But after working with these men and women ... side by side in the unforgiving sun I have to say -- and I do mean this sincerely -- please don't make me do this again. It is really, really hard."

The brief experience, he said, "gave me some small understanding why so few Americans are clamoring to begin an exciting career as seasonal migrant field workers."

Colbert appeared alongside, among others, United Farm Workers President Arturo Rodriguez, whose group over the summer launched "Take Our Jobs," a campaign that challenged U.S. citizens to replace immigrants in farm work.

The group, which says only seven citizens or legal residents have taken it up on the offer, argues that immigrant workers aren't taking citizens' jobs, and is pushing for a bill that would give undocumented farm workers currently in the United States the right to earn legal status."

"Republicans on the subcommittee were not impressed or swayed by Colbert's appearance.

'Maybe we should be spending less time watching Comedy Central and more time considering all the real jobs that are out there -- ones that require real hard labor and ones that don't involve sitting behind a desk,' said Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa.
'If we did we'd realize that every day ... Americans perform the dirtiest, most difficult, most dangerous (jobs) that can be thrown at them.'
Many of these workers, King said, 'would prefer the aroma of fresh dirt to that of the sewage of American elitists who disparage them even as they flush.'"

Scary....... how so many REPUBLICAN POLITICIANS..... educated , highly successful as well as wealthy, businessmen/professionals in general..... say the things they say........and believe themselves...... "non elitists"

Scary.......how many "AVERAGE UNIFORMED AMERICAN VOTERS"..... fault not of their own making for many/ preference for many content to be left alone.........actually believe..... these REPUBLICAN POLITICIANS...... have their best interest in mind.

Just about all politicians in Washington are wealthy.  Some from humble backgrounds,  entering politics after years of hard work once amassing their fortune  .  Born into money, some having hardly worked at all their whole lives; even in need of job as politician.

So what is it...... the difference.... between wealthy politicians....... with DEMOCRATS  being viewed...... "ELITISTS"....... compared to and even by the REPUBLICAN politicians themselves?

From a tax perspective, wealhty DEMOCRATS  benefits or lose just as much as wealthy REPUBLICANS regardless of what taxation "scheme" used.

As progressive taxation knows not whether money from minorities working for a racists....

As progressive taxation knows not whether  charitable donations from old money old or new......

As progressive taxation knows not whether salary of a chauvanistic homosexual male employee or liberated conservative female executive.....

As progressive taxation  knows not whether from money for good clean hard labor or quick, easy money made doing someone's dirty work....

As progressive taxation knows not whether from wallstreet bonus  or spent for sex and drug....

As REPUBLICAN PARTY has the most to gain from voting against progressive taxation, I'm left with only THREE posssible conclusions.....

IGNORANCE
DELUSIONAL
GREED

As I debate politics with REPUBLICANS, LIBERTARIAN, INDEPENENTS, DEMOCRATS
I'm left with only one conclusion........

SELFISHNESS
