Can't help but believe, the only way this statement can make sense, is to reduce all the trees down to
"one"
with "GOD" and the "tree of knowledge" being one and the same.
If even possible, to understand the mind of GOD, one would become one with GOD.
If not, then the difference between heaven and hell shouldn't matter as the two together should add up to one by death, cancel each other out over time, or each is half of a circle, or 2/3 of the equation as meaningless without an observer.
Matthew is the only Gospel to discuss the ecclesia (Greek: assembly), or church. In Matthew, Jesus establishes his church on Peter, giving Peter and the Church the power to bind and loose (or forbid and allow). The instructions for the church emphasize ecclesiastical responsibility and humility. He calls on his disciples to practice forgiveness, but he also gives them the authority to excommunicate the unrepentant. Peter's special commission has been highly influential.
