BARREL OF MONKEYS: "GENESIS" in Reverse

I consider myself a Democrat. Been called a Socialist. Definitely a bleeding heart liberal.

As a child from a traditional southern family, playing Barrel of Monkeys on the floor, church every Sunday, doing well in public school, learning a trade; in every sense privileged .........

Comfortable in middle age, an avid news reader, on learning the tragic story of a full grown chimpanzee destroying the face of a woman who offered a toy, only trying to help it's owner coax her surrogate child back into his cage......

Today being confrontational, ribald, offensive, restless, rebellious.......

How did I get here from there?

WHOOPI, BEHAR, O'REILLEY

"Seventy percent of Americans don't want that mosque down there."
- O'Reilly -

"It was Muslims who killed us."
- O'Reilly -

And that's suppose to be how freedom works....?

Sounds to me like O'Reilly just wants to be popular.

After all......
$$$
the easiest way to make money is to follow the smell of money.

Wish they would stop flip-flopping between "we have drifted away from the Constitution" and "we are going against the will (vote) of  American public".

The Constitution from the very beginning was never about popular vote.  It was a compromise that gave smaller colonies a bigger voice in government (yet to be) than would have by popular vote alone. Without which, they would not have signed onto the Declaration of Independence; only to be governed without representation......again.

 One also needs to remember,
the American Revolutionary War was almost lost.
Regardless of number of soldiers sent,  material support, or number of battles fought on home soil, the smaller colonies are entitled to fairness regardless of  vote;  however unpopular.

Same go for religion.

To side with O'Reilley, self appointed spokesperson for seventy percent of Americans as well, one becomes the very same people our ancestors came to America trying to escape.  You cannot value freedom of religion and be an oppressor simultaneously without it being about you instead of rights.

The mosque not being being built, by any means not their own initiative, then you might as well burn The Constitution and change the national anthem to "ROW, ROW, ROW YOUR BOAT"; til  everyone is of same "opinion".

The Declaration of Independence you can keep.
Hang on to it.
Like knowing when to dump stocks,  you can always buy it back cheap.

It is about you.....right?

"Proud to live in a country where one can freely choose which church to attend."

( Dumbass blue dog DEMOCRAT (?) distant cousin of mine.  Don't even need to ask to know he's against building the mosque near 9/11.)

RIDING THE DIVIDE

A Marvelous Answer

A mechanic was removing the cylinder heads from the engine of a car when a famous heart surgeon entered his workshop.

The mechanic straightened up, wiped his hands on a rag and asked argumentatively, "So doctor, look at this. I also open hearts, take valves out, grind 'em, put in new parts, and when I finish this will work as a new one... So how come you get the big money, when you and me are doing basically the same work? "

The doctor leaned over and whispered to the mechanic.....

Doctor said : " Try to do it when the Engine is RUNNING."

 PARTISANSHIP CANYON

I saw a parallel between toughness/resolves of bikers in this video with those of liberal politicians.

Except......

With Democrats to the left and Republicans to the right,
crossing the the divide far more hostile territory and less forgiving than mountain biking the length U.S. continental divide.

Like geologists risking their lives taking readings on top of a mountain showing signs of awakening....

Not like they had to!

The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.

When Words Can Kill: 'That's So Gay' - ABC News

"'When you are in elementary school, one of the first things you learn is the feeling of hurt when you are called 'gay' or 'fag,'' said Presgraves. 'It doesn't matter if you are gay or straight. The term 'gay' has become synonymous with 'uncool.'

'The expression 'That's so gay' is one of the most heard in school, and students recognize it as derogatory,' he said."

"It's absolutely tragic," Haas said of Carl's suicide. "The really disturbing thing is the degree to which 'gay,' 'lesbian' and all pejorative terms are a cover for the bullying itself. The meaning of it is unclear."

According to a 2001 study published in the American Journal of Public Health, "The majority of the evidence is in favor of common causes for suicide that affect all youth, but which LGB youth are more likely than their heterosexual peers to experience."

In that report, by the GLSEN and Harris Interactive, students said teachers rarely interfered in cases of gay-related bullying, either because they are embarrassed or don't know what to do.

"The truly unfortunate thing is because of the societal atmosphere surrounding gay and lesbian life in the U.S., administrators are reluctant to act or fail to act,"

Working as a relief veteterinarian can be pretty boring at time as most client would rather wait to see their regular vet. Having more time than care to kill reading after a nice long naps, doesn't take long before "Don't ask/Don't tell"  impossible to maintain as nosy turns cozy.

"One thing I like about the Digital age: having the dictionary at my fingertips, how easy it is to look up unfamiliar words as I go along reading." "At least....... until, I played my first game of SCRABBLE on the internet. Wow! I had no idea you could spell so many words with seven letters every time." "Now I feel pressured to catch up!"
