BARREL OF MONKEYS: "GENESIS" in Reverse

I consider myself a Democrat. Been called a Socialist. Definitely a bleeding heart liberal.

As a child from a traditional southern family, playing Barrel of Monkeys on the floor, church every Sunday, doing well in public school, learning a trade; in every sense privileged .........

Comfortable in middle age, an avid news reader, on learning the tragic story of a full grown chimpanzee destroying the face of a woman who offered a toy, only trying to help it's owner coax her surrogate child back into his cage......

Today being confrontational, ribald, offensive, restless, rebellious.......

How did I get here from there?

Why doesn’t Obama wear his religion on his sleeve? - CSMonitor.com

"Now, we would never agree with the headline on Joel Achenbach’s blog on the subject in the Washington Post: “Are Americans total numbskulls?” But as Achenbach points out, “Disinformation remains powerful and infectious, and … large elements of the country distrust the official story about anything.”"

Urban Dictionary: santorum

 RICK Santorum:

Urban Dictionary

"Santorum - The far-right, fanatically gay-bashing Republican senator from Pennsylvania who got his hateful little butt kicked by Democrat Bob Casey, Jr. on November 7, 2006, when Rick Santorum lost by a landslide.

The voters of Pennsylvania sent Rick Santorum to the unemployment line during the mid-term elections of 2006, but not before his name came to be defined as 'the frothy mixture of lube and fecal matter that is sometimes the product of anal sex.'"

Franklin Graham Says President Obama was 'Born a Muslim.' As Pew Poll Shows, More Americans Confused About President's Religion. - ABC News

"'Now it's obvious that the president has renounced the prophet Mohammed, and he has renounced Islam, and he has accepted Jesus Christ. That's what he says he has done. I cannot say that he hasn't. So I just have to believe that the president is what he has said,' Graham continued, adding that 'the Islamic world sees the president as one of theirs.'"

Listen to this stupid fucker!  How would he know?  Sounds just like another Jesus accuser!  If it wasn't for his father's fame, he would just be another Joe the Plumber!

Husky Killed by Off-Duty Cop: "'The off-duty federal officer advised that he yelled for the male subject with Bear to come get his dog. According to the officer, Bear began to bite his dog. The off-duty federal officer stated he attempted to get Husky off his dog, but the Husky turned and attempted to bite him before biting his dog a second time. The off-duty officer stated that he feared for the safety of himself, his wife and their dog and subsequently shot the Huskie [sic] with a handgun he had in his possession.'"

Ex-Bush advisers urge Republicans to soften criticism of mosque near Ground Zero

Ex-Bush advisers urge Republicans to soften criticism of mosque near Ground Zero: "'I think it's important even -- and perhaps especially -- for those who oppose the mosque being built near Ground Zero to make clear they are not conflating all of Islam, and certainly not all American Muslims, with wahhabism and bin Ladenism,' Peter Wehner, who ran what was akin to an in-house think tank in the Bush White House, wrote in an e-mail message. 'This debate -- because it touches on such sensitive issues -- needs to be done in a manner that is careful, precise, and that even includes a measure of grace. I think some of the comments by the former speaker [Gingrich] fall short of that.'"

Coming from a republican.....I'm impressed.

COOKIE MONSTER: Firstborns smart, but younger siblings work harder.

Ever since I've graduated from school with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and entered the work field,  visited my mother in Arkansas roughly twice a year.

On one of these visits, I was sitting at the kitchen table, reading the news most likely, while my niece Dana, the youngest of my sister's two daughters, was just around the corner, doing her own thing on the floor of the den;  the t.v. room becoming the playroom while Dana's here.

As my sister, the firstborn, and her family lives in Sherwood, Arkansas which is 2 hours drive away;  Dana was sharing her visit with my mother also.  This placed the center of attention as she does her own thing, mostly cooking,   having to split her ninety degrees between the two of us.
"jIm!"
my mother always starts out saying; uptalk kind of way.  Once having my attention she continues,
"I have some C-O-O-K-I-E-S?"

From around the corner before I could answer, in a high pitch squeal from out of sight,

"COOKIES!"

"That little b-i-t-c-h!."
How did she beat me to that answer?

"Competition between siblings can be fierce - from bickering over who gets the last cookie to whom Mom and Dad likes the best.

That competitiveness translates into the academic world, too."

"All the way across the sky! What does this mean?"

OMG! OMG! OMG!
Rainbows can be observed whenever there are water drops in the air and sunlight shining from behind at a low altitude angle. The most spectacular rainbow displays happen when half of the sky is still dark with raining clouds and the observer is at a spot with clear sky in the direction of the Sun. The result is a luminous rainbow that contrasts with the darkened background.

Yellow brick road - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: "The road of yellow brick is an element in the novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum, with additional such roads appearing in The Marvelous Land of Oz and The Patchwork Girl of Oz. It is the path that Dorothy is instructed to follow from Munchkin Country, in the East of Oz, to the Emerald City in order to seek the aid of the Wizard of Oz."

Note of interest,

But Obama is his mother's son. In his wide-open rhetoric about what can be instead of what was, you see a hint of his mother's credulity. When Obama gets donations from people who have never believed in politics before, they're responding to his ability—passed down from his mother—to make a powerful argument (that happens to be very liberal) without using a trace of ideology. On a good day, when he figures out how to move a crowd of thousands of people very different from himself, it has something to do with having had a parent who gazed at different cultures the way other people study gems.

"IT'S a NUTTY APPROACH...?"

Pakistan's Floods May Sink the Economy and Zardari - TIME: "The difficult economic conditions have provided the political opposition an opportunity. Striking a nationalist pose, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif declared that Pakistan has no need for foreign aid. Among a broad swath of Pakistani public opinion, holding out a hand for help constitutes a loss of dignity and therefore face. Zardari is already weighed down by the impression that he is too reliant on the West and so his political foes believe that his asking the world for help will damage the President even more. 'It's a nutty approach,' says a Zardari aide about the political opposition to aid. 'If people are there to help you, and they want to help you, why do you want to make them uncomfortable?'"

For some reason I had mixed feelings about this statement. It sound too much of the partisan divide as we debate welfare queens and former Presisdent Bush handling of Katrina diaster.

No doubt we will forget the lessons of Katrina, our connections to the welfare queens, as well as, the importants of Pakistan's cooperation.

You definitely have to be careful how to express an opinion. I'm finding it extremely difficult; even, where I least expected.

G.O.P. Sees Mosque Near Ground Zero as Campaign Issue - NYTimes.com

G.O.P. Sees Mosque Near Ground Zero as Campaign Issue - NYTimes.com: "“Ground zero is hallowed ground to Americans,” Elliott Maynard, a Republican trying to unseat Representative Nick J. Rahall II, a Democrat, in West Virginia’s Third District, said in a typical statement. “Do you think the Muslims would allow a Jewish temple or Christian church to be built in Mecca?”"

Join the Debate: Should Freedom of Religion Trump Sept. 11 Sensitivities? - iVillage: "“Let them build their mosque, or community center, or whatever they are calling it,” echoes denise363636. “This is America -- and to deny someone their freedom of religion would be wrong, and would show the terrorists that they are chipping away at our way of life.”"

Recalling from memory.  The conclusion of one study showed that people who went to church,  overall, were happier and healthier than those who did not.  But the researcher concluded that the benefits should not be seen as the influence of religion itself but as the results of community involvement; socializing, connecting with people.

I agree with the second statement.  If they can go about building this mosque legally, as well as any other religion group who wanted to expand,  then they should be allowed to do so. What is allowed in Mecca should be irrelevant; a reaction befitting that of a child misbehaving.

Either we are a country with values we can call truly American; or we are just another country with hatred filled, paranoid, self serving citizens who will end up destroying their own country from within.

Might as well expel all Muslims from America. And while we're at it, also the blacks, Jews, homosexuals, Mexicans (even if citizens), etc., etc., etc.; stopping only when no one left to hate, no one not trusted, no one seen as a possible threat.

Hate the thought what life would be like; the day to day struggles living with a bunch of unhappy, unhealthy bickering Americans.

The two sentences highlighted, sounded like a very liberal thing to say; couldn't have agreed more. We had a right to come after the Taliban; they were sheltering someone who attacked us first.

Accused 'Craigslist killer' Philip Markoff commits suicide in Boston jail

COMMITS SUICIDE!
Really....
is this big new?

Did anyone expect him the will to live?

Really.....

Did something change?

Have we lost a chance to solve a crime?

Really.....

Didn't we know who to blame?

Why has a chance for closure been lost?

Really.....

Someone guilty still at large?

Reason to believe an accesory to the crime?

Please....
do share your thoughts;
why are you here?
WHYdo YOU even CARE?

"Markoff, a former Boston University medical student, was also charged with armed robbery and kidnapping in two similar incidents in which the victims were not injured. Prosecutors contend that Markoff, who may have been motivated by gambling debts, preyed on prostitutes and erotic masseuses he met at hotels after seeing the women's ads on the Craigslist website."

The

THE ACCUSED

Philip Markoff

Julissa Brisman
The 'Craigslistkiller'

"The family of Julissa Brisman is shocked and dismayed by the news of Phillip Markoff's suicide," according to a statement released by Djuna Perkins, the family's Boston-based lawyer. "Their grief for Julissa is as fresh today as the day over a year ago when Markoff took Julissa away from them. The long-awaited criminal prosecution was their only opportunity to confront him, and now he has taken that away as well."

In his arraignment the next day,
pleaded not guilty to homicide and armed robbery charges.

What do Julissa's parents expect to learn or gain from this lost chance to confront Mark?

He hardly knew,
"THAT GIRL!"

'This death should not divert attention from what really happened here,' he said. 'It should not obscure the overwhelming evidence against Mr. Markoff by the brutality of his crime. It is in no small way the ultimate indicator of consciousness of guilt.'"
Really don't think Mark Markoff meant "not guilty" the way they seem to be taking it.

MONEY, GENDER GAP, & PARTISAN POLITICS

Liberal groups push to exploit Target backlash - Yahoo! Finance

Liberal groups push to exploit Target backlash - Yahoo! Finance: "Protesters have been rallying outside Target Corp. or its stores almost daily since the retailer angered gay rights supporters and progressives by giving money to help a conservative Republican gubernatorial candidate in Minnesota. Liberal groups are pushing to make an example of the company, hoping its woes will deter other businesses from putting their corporate funds into elections."

The flap has revealed new implications of a recent Supreme Court ruling that appeared to benefit corporations by clearing the way for them to spend company funds directly in elections. Companies taking sides in political campaigns risk alienating customers who back other candidates.

STRAIGHT / FAKE or JUST A GAME

"In the past, only men could become actors in some societies. In the ancient Greece and Rome and the medieval world, it was considered disgraceful for a woman to go on the stage, and this belief continued right up until the 17th century, when in Venice it was broken. In the time of William Shakespeare, women's roles were generally played by men or boys."
