BARREL OF MONKEYS: "GENESIS" in Reverse

I consider myself a Democrat. Been called a Socialist. Definitely a bleeding heart liberal.

As a child from a traditional southern family, playing Barrel of Monkeys on the floor, church every Sunday, doing well in public school, learning a trade; in every sense privileged .........

Comfortable in middle age, an avid news reader, on learning the tragic story of a full grown chimpanzee destroying the face of a woman who offered a toy, only trying to help it's owner coax her surrogate child back into his cage......

Today being confrontational, ribald, offensive, restless, rebellious.......

How did I get here from there?

WHY NOT? REPUBLICANS DO IT!

I found this article very interesting.

Is it Smart to Sleep With Your Pets?

From the human perspective, experts have found that pets definitely disrupt their bed mate's sleep patterns. In a widely cited study in 2002, John Shepard, M.D. found that more than half of the 300 patients he surveyed at the Mayo Clinic Sleep Disorders Center reported that their sleep was disturbed by their cats or dogs. Not surprising when you consider that dogs hog the mattress, snore, wake you up at 3 a.m. to have their tummies scratched, attack your toes under the sheets, leave your bed full of hair or -- worse yet -- slobber.
I've never had this problem with my pets.

I suppose it's because I hog the mattress.  I snore.  I like (for lack of a better way to put it) my tummy scratched.  I contribute to the bed full of hair.  And yes....I slobber...a lot, but only when I'm asleep!

Animals aren't stupid.  No one's worth losing that much sleep over.

My pets do jump in bed with me when I turn in at night. Most (never more than three pets at a time) eventually leave once I stop petting/talking to them, some stay till I fall asleep; but can count on all to them to be there when I awake, patiently waiting for another day, ours, to be started.

The also know, getting me out of bed any sooner than I'm ready is a waste of time. So what's left for them to do....except patiently wait.

Encyclopedia
anthropomorphism
the interpretation of nonhuman things or events in terms of human characteristics, as when one senses malice in a computer or hears human voices in the wind. Derived from the Greek anthropos ("human") and morphe ("form"), the term was first used to refer to the attribution of human physical or mental features to deities. By the mid-19th century, however, it had acquired the second, broader meaning of a phenomenon occurring not only in religion but in all areas of human thought and action, including daily life, the arts, and even sciences. Anthropomorphism may occur consciously or unconsciously. Most scholars since the time of the English philosopher Francis Bacon (1561-1626) have agreed that the tendency to anthropomorphize hinders the understanding of the world, but it is deep-seated and persistent

We make the mistake of over interpreting the actions of our pets as a show of affection toward us, when most likely just boredom or just hungry, and neither one gets satisfied, (any desires the pet may have), until the master is ready.

However....I have had my sleep pattern disturbed enormously by sharing my bed with people.  Find it interesting, no matter how much sleep I lost,  my day starts out with a lot more energy, than when I start off a day with a full nights rest, having slept alone.

The trick seems to be.....don't share your bed with people (or animals) you don't like (or don't like you)!

What kind of people (or animal) would do that anyway?

Sounds like every ones happy; no ones complaining.

Makes me wonder about the experts who wrote this article?

Are they REPUBLICANS?

Don't think the right questions, the tough ones, are being asked here......?

It's been my observation, republicans always want to create a problem somewhere, even when times are good.....as long as it's not their problem!

Maybe it's about time they chose something different to share their bed with!  Maybe less sleep for them will do us all some good!!!

THE HYPOCRITICAL BLEEDING HEART LIBERAL

Live and let live

It was a lovely day in the woods. The birds sang in the trees, the frogs croaked in the pond, the crickets chirped in the grass and a rattle snake slid along a small path, which led through the middle of the woods, to warm herself in the sun. She rolled up and slept a little. It was peaceful and nice. A man came along the path who saw the sleeping snake and wanted to kill it.

He grabbed a large stone and just as he wanted to throw it onto the sleeping snake she woke up. „Brother, why do you want to kill me, I haven’t done anything to you!" You are poisonous and must die!" called the man. "But brother, I am poisonous but I’m not doing anything, I won’t kill you!" " You, kill me?" laughed the man. "I am a human and am much larger and stronger than you and I have this stone. I am going to kill you with it!" "I am not a snake’s brother anyway!" the man screamed “…and you are going to die now!" He lifted up the stone. In that instant, the snake struck out like lightning and bit the man in the neck. He immediately fell to the ground and as he lay there dying, he heard the snake say: “If you had listened to me, brother, and hadn’t wanted to kill me, this wouldn’t have happened and you might have had a long life." Then the snake rolled back into the sun and slept on this wonderfully peaceful day in the woods.

Although I live in Decatur, I introduce myself as being from Atlanta. Having moved to the Atlanta area to be closer to Midtown, the heart of Atlanta's large gay community, the gay ghetto of the south; Midtown being where I felt most alive, calling Atlanta home seems most sincere.

Even hard to tell, where Decatur begins and ends, while navigating what is known as Metro Atlanta. Lived here since 1995 and still not sure. Nor could I even describe downtown Decatur. I hear it's a lovely town. Been given no reason to believe otherwise.

GAY GHETTOS

Any area of a (usually) large metropolis where gay people live, work and hang out. Often the neighborhood contains several gay bars, gay bookstores, and other "gay friendly" business establishments.

Some rather famous Gay Ghettos include the Castro district of San Francisco, Greenwich Village and Chelsea in NYC and Dupont Circle in Washington, DC.

LAURA BUSH: BORN-AGAIN ACTIVIST......(kinda)

My Favorite Republican.......Sissy

Sissy is the wife of the owner of several veterinary clinics who only recently has become involved in the day to day affairs of running his business.  Having worked for Dr. I previously at different clinics, already knew of Sissy, as Dr. I would bring up her name during conversations.  Although nothing said that reflected negatively of her,  our first encounter turned out to be an unexpected  pleasant surprise; one of many to come.....all bubbly, full of energy, fun, and fleeting.

On this day we met, wasn't until after she left that I realized....I was the only white person working at that hospital......and this was day three.

Toward the end of Bush second term, after reading an article about the conflicts in Afganistan and Iraq, I turned to Sissy sitting at the desk behind me, who  happened to  drop in that day for some office work, and remarked,
"I think we ought to bring all the soldiers home from both wars and send everyone who voted for Bush ...TWICE .....to fight these wars instead!"

She replied,
"WELL.....I....LIKE.... the man!  I VOTED for him....TWICE'!"

I was ....floored,
but not because she voted for him twice.
With a name like 'Sissy', and the amount of hair spray needed, that was a given.
It was how effortlessly,  lacking any hint of remorse or doubt,
the words rolled off her tongue.

Wouldn't surprise me to find out she belonged to a sorority.

***
At the end of another lively debate,
even closer to the end of Bush term with polls showing a likely defeat of McCain by Obama:

"Behind every successful man is a woman," remarked Sissy.

Actually agree with her, but knew she wasn't talking about his mother. This was a sore loser taking a swipe at the winning party!

"Yeah! A younger one," I came close to saying.

Ended up biting my tongue due to some office gossiping.
Would of been more than just a double edge sword; an overkill.
Even I couldn't be that mean.

****

Throughout Bush's eight years in the white house, will admit to one bright spot....his wife.
Believed she had class that went beyond polite good manners.
A gut feeling.

Although disappointed by Laura's appearing to be a supportive spouse, submissively allowing George's opinions to prevail where they disagreed, as if her opinion was of no value; hard to fault her going with the role of the good wife, a role that often pitting loyalty against moral, for the sake of their marriage.
Since the release of her memoirs,  can't help but smile a little.  Following the same line of reasoning,  Laura's certainly not going to let it be known, for the sake of their marriage....

......she didn't vote for George twice!

Laura Bush, who is promoting her book "Spoken From the Heart," acknowledged that gay marriage was a key social issue in her husband's 2004 reelection campaign. After gay marriage was legalized in Massachusetts, the president endorsed a constitutional amendment that would prohibit it. "I understand his viewpoint," she said. "And he understands mine."

OFFSHORE DRILLING

The Risks and Rewards
of Offshore Drilling

"We've tried to drill our way out of this problem for the last 30 years," said Manuel. "It's never worked."

"NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- The spilled oil lapping at Gulf Coast beaches and wetlands is one tragic result of offshore drilling.
As the administration's plans to expand drilling proceed, what do we get in exchange for putting more of our coastal environment, and the fishing and tourism economies that depend on it, at risk?"

THE FUN THEORY

Obviously,
Fun Changes Behavior For the Better!

WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME

SMALLTOWN BOY

You leave in the morning
With everything you own
In a little black case
Alone on a platform
The wind and the rain
On a sad and lonely face

Mother will never understand
Why you had to leave
But the answers you seek
Will never be found at home
The love that you need
Will never be found at home

Run away, turn away, run away, turn away, run away.

Run away, turn away, run away, turn away, run away.

Pushed around and kicked around
Always a lonely boy
You were the one
That theyd talk about around town
As they put you down

And as hard as they would try
Theyd hurt to make you cry
But you never cried to them
Just to your soul
No you never cried to them
Just to your soul

Run away, turn away, run away, turn away, run away.

Run away, turn away, run away, turn away, run away.

Cry , boy, cry...

You leave in the morning
With everything you own
In a little black case
Alone on a platform
The wind and the rain
On a sad and lonely face

Run away, turn away, run away, turn away, run away.

Run away, turn away, run away, turn away, run away.

WITHOUT A SOUND

‘I am thinking, therefore I exist’

In our youth, Descartes held, we acquire many prejudices which interfere with the proper use of our reason. Consequently, later we must reject everything we believe and start anew. Hence the Meditations begins with a series of arguments intended to cast doubt upon everything formerly believed, and culminating in the hypothesis of an all-deceiving evil genius, a device to keep former beliefs from returning. The rebuilding of the world begins with the discovery of the self through the ‘Cogito Argument’ (‘I am thinking, therefore I exist’) – a self known only as a thinking thing, and known independently of the senses.

'I think not!'

Identify, kinda, with the comment his mother made. "He's not one of hearing world.  He's not one of the deaf world.  Sort of walks with one foot in each."

Feel that I lived in my own world.  One that only I understand.  One where I must walk with both feet planted firmly to the ground.  Pretty much learned, there are just some places you don't go.

Or you go alone if you wanted to badly enough.

WHO CARES THE REASON!

JESUS THE REASON?

Even though Orthodox Atheist,  this group can put up as many Nativity Scenes as they like, even my front yard, without me being offended.  So what that "Jesus" is the reason.  Not like he's going to get a free toaster for it.

The end justifies the means, right?

*******

"Calling "atheism" a religion is like calling "bald" a hair color."

I object to that quote.
If someone online ask me what color my hair is,  I answer, "brown."  When they see me, they gonna wish "bald" was a hair color.

A joke my Uncle Arthur told,
(who also happens to be bald):
If a guy loses his hair in front first, it means he's a great lover.  If he loses his hair on the back first, it means he's a great thinker.  If he loses hair all over,  he thinks he's a great lover.

 HENNEY PENNY
(English Fairy Tale)

ONE day Henny-penny was picking up corn in the cornyard when--whack!--something hit her upon the head. 'Goodness gracious me!' said Henny-penny; 'the sky's a-going to fall; I must go and tell the king.'

So she went along and she went along and she went along till she met Cocky-locky. 'Where are you going, Hennypenny?' says Cocky-locky. 'Oh! I'm going to tell the king the sky's a-falling,' says Henny-penny. 'May I come with you?' says Cocky-locky. 'Certainly,' says Henny-penny. So Hennypenny and Cocky-locky went to tell the king the sky was falling.

They went along, and they went along, and they went along, till they met Ducky-daddles. 'Where are you going to, Hennypenny and Cocky-locky?' says Ducky-daddles. 'Oh! we're going to tell the king the sky's a-falling,' said Henny-penny and Cocky-locky. 'May I come with you?' said Ducky-daddles. 'Certainly,' said Henny-penny and Cocky-locky. So Hennypenny, Cocky-locky, and Ducky-daddles went to tell the king the sky was a-falling.

So they went along and they went along, and they went along, till they met Goosey-poosey. 'Where are you going to, Henny-penny, Cocky-locky, and Ducky-daddles?' said Gooseypoosey. 'Oh! we're going to tell the king the sky's a-falling,' said Henny-penny and Cocky-locky and Ducky-daddles. 'May I come with you?' said Goosey-poosey. 'Certainly,' said Hennypenny, Cocky-locky, and Ducky-daddles. So Henny-penny, Cocky-locky, Ducky-daddles, and Goosey-poosey went to tell the king the sky was a-falling.

So they went along, and they went along, and they went along, till they met Turkey-lurkey. 'Where are you going, Henny-penny, Cocky-locky, Ducky-daddles, and Gooseypoosey?' says Turkey-turkey. 'Oh! we're going to tell the king the sky's a-falling,' said Henny-penny, Cocky-locky, Duckydaddles, and Goosey-poosey. 'May I come with you, Hennypenny, Cocky-locky, Ducky-daddles, and Goosey-poosey?' said Turkey-lurkey. 'Oh, certainly, Turkey-turkey,' said Henny-penny, Cocky-locky, Ducky-daddles, and Gooseypoosey. So Henny-penny, Cocky-locky, Ducky-daddles, Goosey-poosey, and Turkey-lurkey all went to tell the king the sky was a-falling.

So they went along, and they went along, and they went along, till they met Foxy-woxy, and Foxy-woxy said to Hennypenny, Cocky-locky, Ducky-daddles, Goosey-poosey, and Turkey-lurkey: 'Where are you going, Henny-penny, Cockylocky, Ducky-daddles, Goosey-poosey, and Turkey-lurkey?' And Henny-penny, Cocky-locky, Ducky-daddles, Goosey poosey, and Turkey-lurkey said to Foxy-woxy: 'We' re going to tell the king the sky's a-falling.' 'Oh! but this is not the way to the king, Henny-penny, Cocky-locky, Ducky-daddles, Goosey-poosey, and Turkey-lurkey,' says Foxy-woxy; 'I know the proper way; shall I show it you?' 'Oh, certainly, Foxywoxy,' said Henny-penny, Cocky-locky, Ducky-daddles, Goosey-poosey, and Turkey-lurkey. So Henny-penny, Cockylocky, Ducky-daddles, Goosey-poosey, Turkey-lurkey, and Foxy-woxy all went to tell the king the sky was a-falling. So they went along, and they went along, and they went along, till they came to a narrow and dark hole. Now this was the door of Foxy-woxy's cave. But Foxy-woxy said to Henny-penny, Cocky-locky, Ducky-daddles, Goosey-poosey, and Turkeyturkey: 'This is the short way to the king's palace: you'll soon get there if you follow me. I will go first and you come after, Henny-penny, Cocky-locky, Ducky-daddles, Goosey-poosey, and Turkey-turkey.' 'Why, of course, certainly, without doubt, why not?' said Henny-penny, Cocky-locky, Ducky-daddles, Goosey-poosey, and Turkey-lurkey.

So Foxy-woxy went into his cave, and he didn't go very far, but turned round to wait for Henny-penny, Cocky-locky, Ducky-daddles, Goosey-poosey, and Turkey-lurkey. So at last at first Turkey-lurkey went through the dark hole into the cave. He hadn't got far when 'Hrumph', Foxy-woxy snapped off Turkey-lurkey's head and threw his body over his left shoulder. Then Goosey-poosey went in, and 'Hrumph', off went her head and Goosey-poosey was thrown beside Turkey-lurkey. Then Ducky-daddles waddled down, and 'Hrumph', snapped Foxy-woxy, and Ducky-daddles's head was off and Duckydaddies was thrown alongside Turkey-turkey and Gooseypoosey. Then Cocky-locky strutted down into the cave, and he hadn't gone far when 'Snap, Hrumph!' went Foxy-woxy, and Cocky-locky was thrown alongside of Turkey-lurkey, Gooseypoosey, and Ducky-daddles.

But Foxy-woxy had made two bites at Cocky-locky, and when the first snap only hurt Cocky-locky, but didn't kill him, he called out to Henny-penny. But she turned tail and off she ran home, so she never told the king the sky was a-falling.

I couldn't help but chuckle a little bit when she got angry about Arizona getting tough on illegal migrants. Although having entered the U.S. legally from Argentina, she confessed, had she not married recently, she probably would have ended up being here illegally.

Of course I agreed with her,  that Arizona's action were wrong; but I did come close to not letting her know, just for being selfish on the health care issue.

Socialists generally share the view that capitalism unfairly concentrates power and wealth among a small segment of society that controls capital and derives its wealth through a system of exploitation. This in turn creates an unequal society, that fails to provide equal opportunities for everyone to maximise their potential, and does not utilise technology and resources to their maximum potential nor in the interests of the public.
